Countdown: Sette
I grabbed coffee with John Rinaldo, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of San Jose, and he gave me some great advice on how to build up the youth ministry at my church. I never did foresee being a Director of Youth Ministry, but God knows us and our desires better than we do!
John asked me what my mission and vision is as a youth minister. I told him that through prayer, God is leading me in a direction that consists of renewing youth ministry in my community and teaching my teens to be more rooted in Christ. Praise God, for John strongly affirmed this direction.
Afterward, I thought about this mission and vision of mine again. I realized that it shouldn’t just be applied to youth ministry, but it should be the mission and vision of my life! Anytime anyone sees me or comes across my blog/social websites should always leave somehow feeling renewed and rooted in Christ more than before.
This relates to my life verse, …yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me…” Galatians 2:20. My mission and vision is not mine, it’s God’s. My mission and vision will not be carried out by me, it will be carried out by God. This is our purpose: to allow Him to empower us, work through us, and to ultimately deliver us. Amen.
