Think outside the box
It’s 7:24pm and I’m already in bed! I thought I should blog as I listen to my boyband playlist on Pandora and before I finish Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows.
I was getting to know a new friend the other day, mister Thomas Aquinas, and I thought I should share one of his famous proofs for the existence of God in the Summa Theologica. It’s pretty amazing!
The fifth way is taken from the governance of the world. We see that things which lack knowledge, such as natural bodies, act for an end, and this is evident from their acting always, or nearly always, in the same way, so as to obtain the best result. Hence it is plain that they achieve their end, not fortuitously, but designedly. Now whatever lacks knowledge cannot move toward an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence; as the arrow is directed by the archer. Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.
Think about it… if we are made in the image and likeness of God, and God is love, it makes sense why us as human beings live to love and be loved! We attempt to achieve this purpose through families, vocations, education, service, relationships, and much, much, more. Without a higher power directing us (and acknowledging it), we wouldn’t have feelings… we wouldn’t know how to make someone smile… we wouldn’t be able to find beauty in redemptive (and even self-inflicted) suffering. Just let that all marinate!
good news: In addition to my dad’s kidney transplant and my sister-in-law’s first pregnancy (after 5 years of marriage), I got a new job! The company I work for is Imperva, and it’s located in Redwood City. I have officially moved to San Jose and I have an amazing floor all to myself in my brother’s 3-story house (they worked hard for it, and I am blessed to share in the fruits of their labor). This is a temporary gig, and it’ll allow me to pay some bill$ and $ave for next year’s big move! God provides and His timing is always perfect. Truly, these blessings are just glimpses of how our invisible God makes Himself absolutely visible.
Good News: Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. Romans 1:20
