Another think coming
God answers prayers with one of two answers: “Yes!” or “I have something better for you.”
Recently the Lord has been saying “Yes!” to many of my prayers, and of course I absolutely praise Him for those blessings. Recap: conference band, my dad’s transplant, my niece-on-the-way, my job, etc. However, like many of us, I got lost in the mindset that God is like a genie and would grant ALL my wishes and dreams. I really forgot about the “I have something better for you” answer when there finally was an instance that I didn’t get that sudden “Yes!”. To make matters worse, I was very much aware of that stinging pain caused by the knowledge of having to wait upon the Lord’s revelations of what is supposedly better.
Fortunately these feelings didn’t last long (maybe a couple days, though a couple days way too long). God whispered to me, ”When I say ’Yes!’ to your wishes and dreams, it is not because they are yours, but because they are my wishes and dreams for you.” God wrote to me, “Life is not a problem to be solved, it is a mystery to be lived.” God showed me my past and how His timing has always been perfect in His giving and in my receiving. God sang with me, “…So have your way in me/Cause Lord there is just one thing that I will seek/This is my cry/My one desire/Is to be where You are Lord.”
He dreams bigger. He is full of surprises. He does not abandon us. He yearns for us more than we can ever comprehend.
Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20
